Biofenicol
Oral
Compostion
Each 100 ml contains:
Thiamphenicol ………………..…………………………………………..….. 20000 mg
Properties
Thiamphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and is especially effective against anaerobes. Thiamphenicol differs from chloramphenicol in having a sulpho-group instead of a nitro-group. Thiamphenicol used in the treatment and control of a wide range of respiratory and alimentary tract infections of bacterial origin. Thiamphenicol is essentially bacteriostatic antibiotic inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria. It acts by binding to the 50-S subunits of the 70-S ribosomes, thus blocking peptidyl transferase and resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis. It may be bactericidal for some species under some conditions, and in concentrations 3 to 5 times higher than the bacteriostatic concentrations.
