Compostion:

Each 1 gm contains:

Erythromycin thiocyanate ……………………………………..236.20 mg

(Equiv. to Erythromycin base 200 mg).

Properties:

Eisromed 20 is the trade name of erythromycin which is a macrolide antibiotic, it is active against G+ve bacteria as (Staph spp., Strept spp. & Coryne bacterium) and Mycoplasma spp. (M. gallisepticum, M.synoviae, M.meleagridis).

Erythromycin acts as antibacterial by inhibiting the protein synthesis by binding to 50s ribosomal subunits of sensitive microorganisms.

Uses:

Chickens – Turkeys 

• CRD due to M.gallisepticum. – Infectious sinusitis ( M.meleagridis).
• Infectious synovitis (M. synoviae).

 Doses:

Spp: Chickens & Turkeys:

Route: via drinking water.

Dose: 2 gm / 1 liter drinking water, daily for 3 – 5 days.

Warning & Precautions:

– Withdrawal time in chicken & turkeys: 3 days.

– Not used in layers.

Contra – Indications:

• Hypersensitivity to erythromycin, hepatic disorder.
• Cross – resistance occurs between erythromycin &  other macrolide antibiotics.

–  Not used in case of renal impairment.

Side Effects:

– Non in recommended dose.

– Epigastric distress in high doses for long period.

Storage: 

Store at temperature not exceeding 30◦c in dry place and to be used immediately after opening.

White plastic (high density polyethylene) container closed by white plastic (high density polyethylene) cap of size (100,250,500 gm and 1 kg) has label and insert.
