TCYCLIN

Compostion

Each 100 gm contain:

Tetracycline hydrochloride ………………………………………………………………………….   80  gm

Properties

Tetracyclines are broad spectrum antibacterials active against Mycoplasma, Chlamydophila, and Reckettsia in addition to bacteria. They are active against wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria but have little useful activity against E. coli, Salmonella, Proteus, or Pseudomonas spp. Tetracyclines are bacteriostatic antibiotics that inhibit protein synthesis in susceptible microorganisms.  After they diffuse through the outer cell membrane, an active carrier mediated process transports the drug through the inner cytoplasmic membrane.  Once inside the cell, they bind irreversibly to receptors on the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome where they interfere with the binding of the aminoacyl-transfer RNA to the acceptor site on the messenger RNA ribosome complex.  This effectively prevents the addition of amino acids to the elongating peptide chain, inhibiting protein synthesis

Indications

Chickens:

  • For treatment of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum
  • Infectious coryza caused by Haemophilus paragallinarum
  • Infectious sinusitis caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum
  • Infectious synovitis caused by Mycoplasma synoviae
  • Fowl cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida

Pigs:

  • For treatment of bacterial enteritis and enzootic  pneumonia caused by Mycolpasma hypneumoniae

Target species

Pigs and chickens.

Dosage of Administration

Route:   Orally via drinking water

Broilers chickens: 125 gm  Tcycline  to  180 liters of drinking water for up to 5 days

Pigs: 125 gm  Tcycline to 300 liters of  drinking water for up to 5 days.

Special warning:

  • Severely sick animals have altered drinking patterns and should therefore parenterally medicated.
  • Absorption of tetracyclines from the elementary tract is reduced by calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc salts.

Special precautions:

Special precautions for use in animals:

As a result of a probable variation in susceptibility of bacteria for oxytetracycline bacteriological and susceptibility testing are recommended.

Improper use of the product, increase bacterial resistance to tetracyclines and can therefore reduce the effectiveness of treatment with other tetracyclines, due to cross-resistance.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals:

Avoid direct contact with the skin and inhalation by wearing gloves and dust mask to avoid sensitization and contact dermatitis.

Contra – Indications:

Not for use in hens producing eggs for human consumption.

Adverse effects:

The use of tetracyclines during the period of tooth development including late pregnancy, may lead to tooth discoloration.

Withdrawal times :

Chickens: 3 days

Pigs: 6 days.
