Compostion:
Each 1 gm contains:
Doxycycline HCL….………………………….. 566.50 mg
(Equiv. to doxycycline base 500 mg)
Properties:
Doxycycline is differ from tetracycline , Oxytetracycline and chlortetracycline in that they are more lipophilic , thus resulting in higher tissue penetration , larger volume distribution and over all better antimicrobial properties.
Bio Dox 50 is used for treating susceptible G+ve & G-ve organisms such as bacillus anthracis , Bordetella spp., E.coli , Salmonella, Pasturella, Haemophillus, Staphylococci, Streptococci, as well as Mycoplasma, certain rickettsia, Chlamydia and Actinomyces spp. Doxycycline produces its antimicrobial effect by binding reversibly to bacterial 30s ribosomes and thus inhibits protein synthesis of the bacterial cell.
Uses:
Poultry:
– Colibacillosis – Sallmonellosis – CRD ( M. Gallisepticum and/or E.coli)
– Air sacculitis (M. gallisepticum) – Infectious coryza (Haemophillus gallinarium)
– Infectious sinusitis (M. meleagridis)
Calves, Lambs & Kids:
Pneumonia, Diarrhea due to sensitive organisms.
Doses:
Poultry: 2 gm / 5 liter drinking water once daily for 3 – 5 days.
Calves, Lambs & Kids: 0.25 – 0.5 gm of the product / 25 kg.b.wt. In drinking water once daily for 3 – 5 days.
Withdrawal time: in poultry 7 days and in calves 21 days.
Not to be used with Ca++ preparations.
Contra – Indications
Not used for layers
The absorption of doxycycline from GIT is decreased by milk and milk products, anti acids & iron preparations.
Storage:
at temperature not exceeding 30ºC, in dry place and to be used immediately after opening.
